Maintaining good hygiene and taking the proper precautions can help you to avoid germs as best as possible. You encounter many germs in day-to-day life and while most of these will be harmless to your health, it is always better to be prepared and protected.

The easiest way to prevent the spread of germs is to regularly wash or sanitise your hands. You should do this before and after eating, using the bathroom, coughing or sneezing or touching surfaces in public areas.

Hand sanitiser or sanitising sprays are a great tool to keep in your bag or pocket and can provide a quick and easy way to clean your hands if there is no sink and soap available. These are great to have on hand while travelling or going about daily tasks.

If there is a sink nearby, thoroughly washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is recommended to ensure they are clean and free from germs and bacteria.

If you cough or sneeze, covering your nose and mouth with a tissue is the best way to prevent the spread of germs. If you haven’t got a tissue and use your hand, it is important to wash or sanitise them as soon as possible to prevent transferring your germs to other people or surfaces

Keeping your belongings clean is another way to stay germ-free. Surprisingly, our mobile phones collect far more bacteria than we think. There are many ways you can keep your mobile devices clean.

Using wipes or cleaners on the screen will help to remove any bacteria which has built up, as well as utilising stylises or silicone finger guards when using the devices which prevent your fingertips from collecting any of the germs on the screen.
